Traveling Safety Tips

One of the many benefits of buying water well pumps and equipment from Preferred Pump are the fantastic trips we take with our wonderful customers. This year, we’ll be traveling to Las Vegas in December and Grand Cayman in January and we want to make sure that everyone traveling with us are taking the proper measurements to assure a relaxing and safe trip.

Set Your Alarm Clock Well Ahead of Your Departure
One of the easiest ways to assure that your trip is worry-free is to show up at the airport at least 2 hours ahead of your scheduled departure time. This will give you the time you need to park, check in, check your bags, go through security, and walk to your gate. Most of the flights are full and late seats are likely to be given away to strangers on a waiting list if you’re not on time. So be sure to set that alarm clock extra early and leave plenty of time!

Check the Weather Before You Leave for the Airport
One of the most challenging aspects of traveling is dealing with weather. For the most part, bad weather is predictable hours and even days in advance, so be sure to keep up with local weather reports. If you think weather could have affect your flight, call your air carrier’s hotline and ask if there are any known delays. It might still be best to wait in the airport rather than risk being late for your flight, but you’ll want to use your best judgment based on the severity of the weather report. Remember to drive safe!

Be A Smart Packer
When traveling long distances, be sure to pack a carry on bag that contains everything you’ll need to make your flight as comfortable as possible. Bring reading material, video games, a DVD player, a device for Netflix, anti-nausea medicine, and any other medicine you might require personally. Don’t pack liquids, flammables, weapons, metals, or sharp objects as they will be confiscated and could result in security line delays.

Look at All the Stuff We Got!
When packing, consider leaving extra space or bringing extra luggage for any souvenirs you might take back with you, or arrange to have them shipped to your home so they’re waiting for you when you get back.

Once You Arrive
Once you’ve begun your descent to your destination, remove headphones and listen to the flight attendant’s instructions, as they usually contain important information regarding connecting flights and where to reclaim your luggage.

Keep An Eye On Your Kids
It’s perfectly natural for kids to get curious and wander away. Try not to take your eye off of them for very long and keep them entertained. A bored child is an adventurous and curious child. Once you arrive at your destination, hold hands with your kids to assure they are by your side.

Jet Lag Got You Down?
A very common symptom of long-distance traveling is jet lag, which typically has a bigger effect on you on the way home. To make sure that you’re OK to drive once you land, be sure to get plenty of sleep the night before and don’t drink too much on the return flight.
